Career Pathways Preparation
At Hope Academy of West Michigan, 9th grade students start on a combined work-based curriculum of Jobs for Michigan Graduations (JMG) and Name a Future (NAF) which includes soft job skills, career exploration and exposure to different career pathways.
At the end of their 10th year, students choose to either attend Kent Career Technical Center and select one of their 29 programs with job training, or select from 5 different pathways offered through the Early Middle College in partnership with Ferris State University and Davenport University.
Kent Career Technical Center is operated by Kent ISD and all program instruction is held at their campus in Grand Rapids, MI. Transportation to and from these classes is provided.
The Early Middle College is a partnership between Ferris State University, Davenport University and Hope Academy of West Michigan. The program offers students the ability to complete their High School Diploma while also earning collage credits or an Associate Degree. Currently, five pathways are offered including Medical Assisting, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Dental Hygienist, Business Administration and Operations and Supply Chain Management.
